Why do some Catholics believe there is salvation outside the Catholic church when there Popes preach different?

Because our understanding is that non-Catholic Christians, can be non-Catholic through no fault of their own. They are one with us in the Body of Christ, yet they lack the fullness of the truth. So, we see them as saved through Christ in communion with the united Body of Christ, and we pray that they will come into the fullness of the faith.
